About Rosie
I’ve been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. With a grandfather and father who both made their living as professional illustrators, I suppose it made sense that some talent for art was passed onto me.
Growing up on a farm on the edge of a forest, I spent a great amount of my childhood looking after and playing with a menagerie of animals, and becoming very fond of all of them (with the exception of Ben, the fiery-tempered cockerel, who had a tendency to appear out of nowhere and chase me across the garden!).
After gaining a degree in Illustration from Kingston University, I set myself up as a pet portrait artist, working in watercolours and building up a list of satisfied clients, mainly through word of mouth referals. Life took a turn and I moved to Dubai in the UAE, where I worked as a storyboard artist for the likes of Coca Cola, Chevrolet, Samsung, Kinder etc etc. as well as producing illustrations for magazines and other corporate illustration work. Whilst not as personal or relaxing as pet portraits, the work rate was frenetic and the topics varied immensely so it was a challenging and rewarding experience that definitely helped me to perfect my drawing skills.
Having moved back to the UK, I’m delighted to be dedicating my energies once again to pet portraiture. There aren’t many things more satisfying than taking a pencil and a set of paints and creating a likeness of someone’s much loved pet, or receiving feedback from a happy customer when they see the finished artwork. I hope that you find everything you need on my website and look forward to painting a watercolour of your dog, cat, horse… budgie…lizard…alpaca… And please feel free to contact me with any questions or requests!
